What actually goes on at a Signs of the Times workshop?

Good question! Usually people come not knowing exactly what to expect. We put them right to work making their own custom wood signs. As consultants we do everything we can to ensure that clients create end products that they can be proud to hang in their home or office, or give as gifts.

Why do you refer to “workshops” instead of “parties” like other home based businesses?

Because with Signs of the Times, clients actually come and do the work! There’s NO sales pitch…no gimmicks…no pressure to “sign up” or spend a fortune on products you will never use!

How long does a workshop generally last?

A minimum of 2-4 hours depending on the number of people who attend the workshop.

Who comes to the workshops?

The basic idea is for people to host workshops and invite their circle of friends. The hostess is given an incentive for her work. We have had a lot of success holding workshops at RV parks and community centers, as well as for women’s groups. We were surprised to find how much interest there is with kids groups. Most of the hostesses invite us back once they discover how fun the workshops are. Future workshops are generated from people who attend.

Are there other options to operating the business other than workshops?

Absolutely! We have developed a wholesale based business and have participated in craft fairs in our area. There are many creative ways to expand your business to suit your lifestyle.

Isn’t it cumbersome setting up for the workshops?

Not really. We’ve consolidated our supplies and equipment which makes it possible to completely set up for a workshop in less than 30 minutes.

How much money can I expect to make from a Signs of the Times workshop?

Of course this depends on the number of people attending the workshop. Prices are based on the size of the boards and the profit margin ranges from approximately $9.50 - $17.00 per board. If 10 people attend a workshop and each makes 2 signs you can estimate a profit of between $200-$340…not bad for 2 – 4 hours of your time.
